Have you ever come across this error while you trying to connect Dataverse as a data-source in Power BI desktop ? The error reads “Microsoft SQL: TDS endpoint is disabled for this organization, please visit http://aka.ms/EnableSQLForCDS” and it looks like below:
The error is pretty much self-explanatory and if you visit the link mentioned in the error it will redirect you here.
Basically the error happens when the TDS endpoint is disabled in dataverse environment but it is getting used in applications like Power BI or SSMS like a direct query mode. I have explained the TDS endpoint here which is highly recommended for a quick read.
Now I would explain the steps to enable/disable TDS endpoint in dataverse environment.
Step 1: Go to https://aka.ms/ppac and login using credentials. You need a have System Administrator role for this operation.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Environments’ section and select the desired environment and click the ‘Settings’ button from top ribbon.
Step 3: Then in the next screen expand ‘Product’ grouping and click on ‘Features’
Step 4: Now to to ‘TDS endpoint’ section at the right and enable/disable the TDS endpoint. You are done!
